Our Beliefs

Our beliefs influence our emotions, so in this section we will review our beliefs as Christians

"If we see truth clearly, we must feel it. Authentic faith in the supreme,
indomitable goodness of God in sending Jesus Christ as our substitute and redeemer necessarily
transforms our feelings. The Holy Spirit awakens earnest love for others from a pure heart
(I Peter 1:22), joyful acceptance of loss (Heb. 10:34),
and cheerful generosity (II Cor. 9:7). " by Martyn Lloyd-Jones

As Christians we are commanded to "change our thinking" with divine viewpoint thinking so God's gracious purpose can be fulfilled in and through our lives. ( Eph 1:18; 4:22-24).

  • Our beliefs influence our emotions
  • We need to review and correct any misunderstanding in our beliefs
  • Our beliefs are corrupted by the culture
  • Our beliefs are corrupted by previous hurts

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people" Eph 1:18

Examine our Beliefs

It is impossible to examine or test our beliefs without a proper benchmark or a compass.

How to identify that wrong beliefs? most of these are firmly rooted in your psyche that you wouldn't even notice them.

What makes it even more difficult is that you are possibly surrounded with people that have similar misconceptions.

As a society, we keep going back and forth between various theories of personalities and psychology, can you trust any of them?

We can only find the answer in God, Who created us and understands us best and His truth is for all people and all times.

Therefore, our Christian Faith must address these issues of emotions and soul or it is not a valid faith.

The other beauty is that God has not left us in the dark but provided us with wealth of information in the Bible of how to deal with our emotions.

The Truth versus the Lies

We live in an era where many promote relative truth, they claim that there is no absolute truth, however <toDo> God reveals to us His Truth and we must adhere

Pillars of our beliefs

"Of all kinds of knowledge that we can ever obtain, the knowledge of God,
and the knowledge of ourselves, are the most important" Johnathan Edwards
  • God
  • Ourselves
  • Our purpose in life
  • Others, the World

Understanding Ourselves is the most important Aspect of Maturity

In order to become mature and confident and live a healthy life, we must confront the most important question in life: Who am I?

What makes this question very difficult, is the fact, How we judge that? Once again, we must go back to the Bible to understand the answer.

But in order to understand "Who am I?" I must also know, whom do I worship?
